~family fun in a quiet country resort~
My first company was a cross-country ski and outdoor skill school. Always a believer in "variations on a dream", I became a park interpreter of natural and cultural history. I also continued on as an outdoor skills leader, eventually working in Ontario, BC and Alberta. When the Albertan government of the late 80's decided to cut back on its educational component of provincial parks, I did not want to be unemployed for long. That's when I bought Eagle Lark RV Resort (as it is called now) and I have never run out of things to do since! It has been a great place to raise my three children. Now I work long hours all summer, but get to play a lot of the winter. At the resort we have 25 acres of lakefront, with serviced sites, showers, a store and Artisan's Gallery as well as play areas and programs. Our guests are mainly families out from Calgary for the weekend, but we get lots of seniors, singles and empty nesters, both locally and from around the world. Day users enjoy walleye fishing and windsurfing. Our animals are a big hit and we have lots of things for kids to do. Happy children make for happy parents! I have been very interested in nature, outdoor activities and travel since I was very young. Growing up in Vancouver, my first dream was to be a teacher in an outdoor school, then retire to the Cariboo-Chilcotin to run a cross country ski ranch. The ranch would operate for the public in winter and then in the summer, provide specialty camps for kids with disabilities and inner city children. Life is what it is though, I went to college but not university. I went into business instead.
